Cooling Efficiency - Time & Temperature

Cooling Performance on USB Power

We test all our medical-grade travel coolers in the laboratory. When plugged into a power source, the Voyager Portable Refrigerator demonstrates unsurpassed cooling performance:

It maintains an inside fridge-like temperature range of 36-46°F (2-8°C) constantly and for unlimited time when the outside temperature is not higher than 95°F (35°C).

Cooling Performance on Biogel Mode

When used without power in off-grid travel situations, the Voyager portable refrigerator for insulin still offers you plenty of time to keep your meds refrigerated. It all depends on how hot it is outside!

  • When the outside temperature is 86°F (30°C), it keeps your insulin and medicines refrigerated between 36-46°F (2-8°C) for 33 hours and cool below 80°F (26°C) for 52 hours.
  • When the outside temperature is 95°F (35°C), it keeps your insulin and medicines refrigerated between 36-46°F (2-8°C) for 30 hours and cool below 80°F (26°C) for 48 hours.
  • When the outside temperature is 104°F (40°C), it keeps your insulin and medicines refrigerated between 36-46°F (2-8°C) for 28 hours and below 80°F (26°C) for 46 hours.
How to Use Your Cooler

The Voyager Portable Travel Refrigerator For Insulin & Medicines is incredibly versatile. It offers two cooling methods, allowing you to keep your medications refrigerated with or without power, fitting any travel situation. Here’s how to use it:

How to Use the Voyager Portable Fridge with USB Power

  1. Load Your Medications: Place your insulin pens, vials, syringes, or other medications inside the USB-lid tube as shown in the pictures.
  2. Seal and Plug In: Close your mini travel fridge and plug it into a power source. That's it!

The USB power fridge is compatible with any USB power source, including car cigarette lighters, portable power banks, solar panels, and household power outlets.

How to Use the Voyager Mini Insulin Fridge with Cold Packs

The Voyager comes with a backup cooling function you can use when you don't have access to electricity. In that case, use the Biogel cold pack included in the package to transport your insulin and medicines refrigerated.

1. Prepare the Biogel: For even distribution, shake the Biogel freeze pack up and down four or five times.

2. Then, simply place your Biogel freeze pack in the freezer for 6-8 hours before use. (there is no issue if you leave it in the freezer for more than 8 hours.)

3. Once you need to use it, submerge the freeze pack in luke-warm tap water for 120-180 seconds before placing it into the insulated cooling bottle. In the absence of luke-warm water, leave it outside for 15-20 minutes before use; however, the warm tap water method is more efficient throughout the year and at various seasonal temperatures. Following one of the procedures above will remove the ice layer (frost) from the surface of the cooling component, eliminating the risks of freezing your medicine when in direct contact.

4. Gently towel dry the Biogel and place your insulin or medication inside the Voyager cooling bottle, along with the frozen pack.

5. Securely close the lid. It's that simple!

For continuous cooling, we recommend keeping a second Biogel pack in your freezer ready to swap out as needed. Extra Biogel cold packs for the Voyager Portable Refrigerator are available for purchase here.

Maintenance & Cleaning Instructions

When used with the USB-LID, the Voyager mini fridge cannot be used upside down.

Most importantly, the heat dissipation holes above the USB-LID should not be covered or blocked. If you do not follow this precaution, the cooling effect will weaken and the cooler will break down.

Every few weeks, you can use an air compressor or hairdryer set to cool setting to blow air into the dissipation holes of the USB-Lid to remove the dust inside. This will extend the product's life span and ensure optimal performance.

We highly suggest that you unplug the USB-Cooling LID for 15-20 minutes to rest after 4 days of continuous use in order to extend the product's life expectancy.

Cleaning instructions:

1. Do not directly clean the exterior of the Voyager with water, as it will damage electronic components.

2. You can use a damp cloth to gently wipe the stainless steel thermos and the stainless steel LID by hand.

3. The Biogel-Ice Pack should be cleaned only with a soft cloth.

4. The top part of the USB-LID can be cleaned only by blowing air into the dissipation holes, while the aluminum tube can only be wiped with a soft cloth.

5. If there are any oxidation marks on the surface of the USB-Lid's aluminum tube, wipe and clean it with aluminum cleaner. As its material is aluminum with good thermal conductivity, oxidation is a normal phenomenon.

Frequently asked questions

How Long Does the Voyager Portable Refrigerator Keep Medications Cold?

It depends o which cooling mode you're using.

In Biogel passive cooling mode, the Voyager keeps medications refrigerated (36–46°F / 2–8°C) for up to 28-32 hours and cool below 79°F / 26°C for up to 46-52 hours, depending on the ambient temperature.

In USB electric cooling mode, refrigeration is continuous with no time limit as long as outside temperatures stay below 95°F / 35°C. Above 104°F / 40°C, USB mode keeps medications cool below 79°F / 26°C but cannot maintain full fridge temperature.

How Many Insulin Pens Fit in the Voyager Portable Refrigerator?

The Voyager Portable Refrigerator holds up to 7 standard-format insulin pens (Lantus, NovoRapid, Toujeo, Admelog, Novomix, Actrapid, and others) and up to 5 pens of wider formats (Levemir, Tresiba, Basaglar, Humalog, Fiasp, and others).

ℹ️ Check the full medication compatibility list in the product images or contact our support team for personalized advice.

Can I Use the Voyager Portable Refrigerator for Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro, and Other GLP-1 Injections?

Yes. The Voyager is a great travel fridge for GLP-1 medications.

It holds up to 5 Ozempic or Wegovy pens, up to 5 Saxenda or Byetta pens, up to 6 Mounjaro KwikPens, and up to 2 standard Mounjaro, Trulicity, or Zepbound pens, among many others.

ℹ️ If you have any doubt about your specific medication or pen format, contact our support team for personalized advice.

My Medication Is Not on the Compatibility List. Can I Still Use the Voyager?

Very likely yes. What determines compatibility with our travel coolers is primarily the physical size of your injection device — whether your pen, syringe, or vial fits within the internal chamber, and how many units you can carry at once.

ℹ️ If your medication isn’t listed, check the internal dimensions in the product images or reach out to our support team with the name and format of your medication and we’ll be happy to guide you personally.

How Can I Trust My Medication Is at the Right Temperature in the Voyager Portable Refrigerator?

The Voyager Portable Refrigerator for Insulin & Medications features a built-in temperature display screen that shows the internal temperature in real time, so you can check that your medication is within its safe temperature range without opening the refrigerator.

It also has an integrated thermostat with an auto shut-off system: if the internal temperature drops below 36°F / 2°C, the refrigerator automatically powers down to prevent medications from freezing, and restarts once the temperature rises back to 46°F / 8°C.

Can I Use the Voyager to Carry Open, In-Use Insulin or Medication Stored at Room Temperature?

It depends on your specific medication's storage instructions.

The Voyager is a powerful mini refrigerator designed to maintain true fridge temperatures (36–46°F / 2–8°C). It may be too cold for some types and brands of insulin or medications that should not be returned to fridge temperature once opened.

💡If what you need is heat-protection rather than full refrigeration, we recommend our range of cooling cases, including the Rambler, the Rambler Pro, or the Chiller cool pouches instead.

What Power Sources Are Compatible With the Voyager's USB Lid?

The Voyager’s USB lid is compatible with any standard USB power source: portable power banks, car cigarette lighter adapters, solar panels, and household USB wall adapters.

For extended trips, the 4AllFamily Pathfinder 20,000 mAh power bank is a purpose-built companion that provides many hours of continuous operation for the Voyager travel refrigerator.

Can I Use the Voyager in My Car, or Powered by a Solar Panel While Hiking or Camping?

Yes — the Voyager Portable Refrigerator for Insulin & Medications is compatible with any USB power source, which makes it highly versatile across travel scenarios.

For road trips, simply plug it into your car’s USB port or cigarette lighter adapter and keeps your medication cold for as long as you’re driving.

For outdoor adventures like hiking or camping, it works equally well with a portable USB solar panel or a powerbank.

💡In situations where no power source is available at all, you can also switch to the included Biogel freeze pack for up to 52 hours of passive cooling with no electricity required.

Can the Voyager Keep Medications Cold Without Being Plugged In?

Yes and no.

When using the electric USB lid, the Voyager needs to be connected to an external power source at all times — it does not have a built-in battery like the Pioneer Pro.

However, when no power is available, simply switch to the included Biogel freeze pack for up to 52 hours of passive cooling — no electricity needed.

How Easy Is the Voyager to Carry, and What's Included to Help With That?

The Voyager Portable Travel Refrigerator For Insulin & Medications comes with a strap holder, allowing you to hang it from a bag, a stroller, a wheelchair, or carry it hands-free.

It also includes a carrying bag that fits snugly around the refrigerator for additional protection and easier transport in a backpack or handbag.

The Voyager’s cylindrical form factor (3.3 inches in diameter) fits comfortably in most bag side pockets or cupholders. Loaded with medications, it remains lightweight enough for everyday carry.

Is the Voyager TSA-Approved for Air Travel?

Yes. Like all 4AllFamily’s medical travel coolers, the Voyager Portable Refrigerator is TSA-compliant and can be carried through airport security in your hand luggage.

For a smooth airport security check, always carry your insulin or medications inside the refrigerator to demonstrate medical use.

What Is the Voyager Made Of, and Is It Safe for Medication Storage?

The Voyager Portable Refrigerator for Insulin & Medications is constructed from food-grade stainless steel 304, both for the outer thermos body and the inner tube. This material is non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and commonly used in medical and food-grade applications, making it safe for direct contact with medication containers. The aluminum components of the USB lid offer excellent thermal conductivity for efficient cooling performance.

What Is the Difference Between 4AllFamily's Voyager, Voyager XL, and Voyager Mini?

The three Voyager Portable Refrigerators from 4AllFamily share the same dual cooling system — USB electric and Biogel passive mode — but differ in storage capacity and size.

The standard Voyager (3.3 in diameter, 9.8 in tall) holds up to 7 standard insulin pens and suits most travel needs.

The Voyager XL offers a larger internal chamber, ideal for users who need to carry more pens, vials, or a mix of injection.

The Voyager Mini is a more compact refrigerator, designed for users who only need to carry 1–3 insulin pens and want a smaller and lighter cooler.

ℹ️ If you’re not sure which model best fits your medication and lifestyle, don’t hesitate to contact our support team — we’re happy to help you choose!
